LUKE MALLIE: The Wall

26 May - 16 AugustGallery Two, Artspace Mackay An Artspace Mackay initiative, The Wall is an Artist in Residence exhibition program that offers Australian artists an opportunity to create an artwork directly onto the wall within the gallery. This year, Brisbane artist Luke Mallie will be the second person to work on The Wall, bringing him back to Mackay, the place he called home during the early years of his career. He has a boldly colourful and energetic style inspired by his Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island heritage, and during his residency, he will explore the 2018 NAIDOC week theme Because of her, we can. While Mallie works on The Wall from the 22nd May to the 3rd June, the community is encouraged to come in, watch and even strike up conversation, creating opportunities for real and meaningful connections between the artist and his audience.
